Plain-English Explanation

The useful version is boring but helpful: if training lands after a long gap without protein, or if another hard session is coming soon, eating a normal protein-containing meal or shake around the workout can be practical.

The hype version turns that into a stopwatch emergency. Current evidence does not support the idea that missing a strict 30-minute deadline wastes the workout or erases muscle gain.

For most lifters, the bigger levers are total daily protein, repeatable meals, enough training stimulus, sleep, and consistency. A pre-workout meal still counts, mixed meals digest over time, and post-workout protein is only one way to fit the day together.

Do not use the anabolic-window idea to justify panic eating, skipping real meals, buying novelty protein products, or treating a single shake as more important than the rest of the program.
